எனவே, தயவு செய்து அனைவரும் (விதிவிலக்கு கிடையவே கிடையாது பயணத்திற்கு தயாராக இருந்து கொள்ளும் படி கேட்டுக் கொள்கின்றோம்.

மலக்குல் மெளத் எனப்படும் உயிரைக் கைப்பற்றும் வனவர் வந்தவுடன் பயணம் ஆரம்பமாகும் என்பதையும் அறியத்தருகின்றோம்!

Suddenly, there was a person, he said Assalaam.
'May I come in?' he asked. But Fatimah did not allow him enter the room.
'I'm sorry, my father is ill,' said Fatimah , turned her body back and closed the door.

She went back to her father who had opened his eyes and asked Fatimah , 'Who was he, my daughter?'
'I don't know, my father. It was the first time for me to see him,' Fatimah said gently.

Then, Rasulullah looked at his daughter with trembled look, as if he wanted to reminisce about every part of her daughter's face.

'Know one thing! He is who erases the temporary pleasure; he is who separates the companionship in the world.

He is the death angel,' said Rasulullah .
Fatimah bore the bomb of her cry. The death angel came toward him,
But Rasulullah asked why Jibril did not come along with him.

Then, Jibril was called. Jibril was ready in the sky to welcome the soul of Habibullah and the leader of the earth.

'O Jibril, explain me about my rights in front of ALLAH?' Rasulullah asked with a weakest voice.


'The doors of sky have opened, the angels are waiting for your soul.'

'All jannats open widely waiting for you,' Jibril said.

But, in fact, all this did not make Rasulullah relieved, his eyes were still full of worry..

'You are not happy to hear this news?' asked Jibril.

'Tell me about the destiny of my people in future?'


'Don't worry, O Rasul ALLAH. I heard ALLAH tell me:
'I make jannat haram for every one, except the people of Muhammad who are inside it,' Jibril said.

It became closer and closer, the time for Malaekat Izrail to do his work.


Slowly, Rasulullah's soul was pulled.
It was seemed that the body of Rasulullah was full of sweat; the nerves of his neck became tight.

'Jibril, how painful this sakaratul maut is!'

Rasulullah uttered a groan slowly. Fatimah closed her eyes,
Ali sat beside her bowed deeply and Jibril turned his face back.

'Am I repugnant to you that you turn your face back o Jibril?' Rasulullah asked the Deliverer of Wahy.

'Who is the one who could see the Habibullah in his condition of sakaratul maut,' Jibril said.

Not for a while, Rasulullah uttered a groan because of unbearable pain.

'O ALLAH, how great is this sakaratul maut. *Give me all these pains,* don't give it to my people.'

The body of Rasulullah became cold, his feet and chest did not move anymore....
His lips vibrated as if he wanted to say something, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah.

'Uushiikum bis shalati, wa maa malakat aimanuku –
Take care of the Saalat and Take Care of the Weak People Among you.'


Outside the room, there were cries shouted each other, sahabah held each other. Fatimah closed her face with her hands and, again, Ali took his ear close to Rasulullah's mouth which became bluish.

'Ummatii, ummatii, ummatii?' - 'My people, my people, my people.'


And the life of the noble man ended.

Could we love each other like him? Allahumma salle 'ala Muhammad wa baarik wa salim 'alaihi. How deep is Rasulullah's love to us.

இந்தியாவை நிர்வகிக்கும் முக்கிய பதிவிகளுக்குக்கான நுழைவு தேர்வை மத்திய அரசின் UPSC வருட வருடம் நடத்தி வருகின்றது. மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் (கலெக்டர் காவல் துறை ஆணையர் (கமிஷ்னர், சுங்கத்துறை, வெளியுறவு துறை உட்பட 24 அரசு உயர் பதவிகளுக்கான நுழைவு தேர்வு (IAS, IPS, IFS etc… விண்ணப்பம் தற்போது வினியோகிக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. முதல் நிலை தேர்வு, இரண்டாம் நிலை தேர்வு, நேர்முக தேர்வு என 3 கட்டங்களாக நடைபெறும் இந்த தேர்வில் முதல் நிலை தேர்விற்க்கான விண்ணப்பம் தற்போது வினியோகிக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. முதல் நிலை தேர்வை பற்றிய முழு விபரம் கீழே கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. முதல் நிலை தேர்வில் தேர்சி பெற்று, இரண்டாம் நிலை தேர்வுவிலும் தேர்சி பெற்று நேர்முக தேர்வுவில் தேர்வு பெற்றால் 24 உயர் பதவியியில் ஒன்றை பெறலாம். இந்தியாவின் தலை எழுத்தை தீர்மானிக்கும் முக்கிய அரசு பதவிக்கான தேர்வு என்றும் இதை சொல்லலாம். முஸ்லீம்கள் ஒடுக்கப்படுவதற்க்கும், உரிமைகள் நசுக்கப்படுவதர்க்கும் இது போன்ற மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் (கலெக்டர் காவல் துறை ஆணையர் (கமிஷ்னர் பணிகளில் முஸ்லீம்கள் இல்லாததே (அல்லது மிக குறைவாக இருப்பதே காரணம். இந்த தேர்வை எழுதி வெற்றி பெருவதன் மூலம் நாமும் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியராகவும் (கலெக்டர், காவல் துறை ஆணையராகவும் (கமிஷ்னர் முடியும். இந்த தேர்விற்க்கான கட்டணம் வெரும் ரூ.70 தான், பெண்களுக்கு ரூ.20 தான். இப்படி அதி முக்கியதுவம் வாய்ந்த இந்த தேர்வை எழுதும் முஸ்லீம்களின் எண்ணிக்கை மிக குறைவு.

முஸ்லீம் சமூகத்தை பாதுகாக்க களம் இறங்குங்கள் மாணவர்களே!

இது வெறும் தேர்வு அல்லது வேலை மட்டும் அல்ல, இந்த பணிகளில் நாம் சேர்ந்தால்தான் நமது சமுதாயத்திற்க்கு பாதுகாப்பு அளிக்க முடியும், குஜராத்திலும், கோவையிலும் இன்னும் இந்தியாவின் பல்வேறு பகுதியிலும் முஸ்லீம்களுக்கு எதிரான கோர தாக்குதலுக்கு இந்த துறைகளில் நாம் இல்லாதது (அல்லது மிக குறைவாக இருப்பது மிக முக்கிய காரணங்களில் . சமுதாய முன்னேற்றத்திற்க்கும், பாதுகாப்பிற்க்கும் நாம் IPS, IAS -இல் தேர்வாகி காவல் துறை ஆனையாளராகவும், மாவட்ட கலெக்டராகவும் ஆனால் மட்டுமே நமது சமுதாயத்திற்க்கு பதுகாப்பு அளிக்க முடியும். சமுதாய முன்னேறத்திற்க்கும் பாதுகாப்பிற்க்கும் அரசியல் தீர்வல்ல, படித்து இது போன்ற பதிவிகளில் அமருவதின் மூலமே நமது பாதுகாப்பை உறுதி செய்ய முடியும். அரசியல் மாயை காட்டி உங்களின் உழைப்பில் பதவி சுகம், பணம் அடையதுடிப்பவர்களை தூக்கி எறியுங்கள், நேரத்தை வீணாக்காமல் புத்தகத்தை எடுத்து படிக்க ஆரம்பியுங்கள்.
இன்னும் எத்தனை காலம் தான் நாம் ஆர்பாட்டம் போராட்டம் என்று வாழ்வது, நமது உரிமையை மீட்க சமுதாயாத்திற்க்கு பாதுகாப்பு வழங்க நாமும் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் (கலெக்டர், காவல் துறை ஆணையர் (கமிஷ்னர் ஆகுவோம் வருங்கள் என உங்களை மாணவர் அணி அன்புடன் அழைகின்றது.

இந்த தேர்வை எழுதும் முஸ்லீம் மாணவரகளின் எண்ணிக்கை குறைவாக இருப்பதற்க்கு மற்றும் ஓர் காரணம் , இந்த நுழைவு தேர்வுகளை பற்றி முஸ்லீம் சமுதாயம் அறியாமல் இருப்பதும், அறிந்திருந்தாலும் இதெல்லாம் மிக கடினம் என்று ஒதுக்கி விடுவதாலும் தான், உண்மையில் நன்றாக படிக்கும் மாணவ மாணவிகளுக்கு இத்த தேர்வுகள் கடினமில்லை.

இது போன்ற தேர்வுகளை எழுதி உயர்பதிகளில் இருப்பவர்கள் உயர் சாதியினர் (ன்று தங்களை சொல்லிகொள்பவர்கள். இதற்க்கு அவர்கள் செய்யும் முதல் வேலை, IAS,IPS தேர்வு மிக மிக கடினம், சாதாரண மக்கள் இந்த தேர்வுகள் எழுத முடியாது என்று ஒரு கருத்தை சமுதாயத்தில் பரவவிட்டிருப்பது, இதனால் தேர்வு எழுத துணியும் மற்ற சமுதாய பட்டதாரிகளின் தன் நம்பிக்கையை தகர்பதும், பிறறை இந்த தேர்வுகளை எழுதவிடாமல் தடுப்பதும் ஆகும்.

இதை மாற்ற நாமும் UPSC ( IAS,IPS,IFS) தேர்வு எழுதி தேர்சி பெற வேண்டும், தேர்வுகள் கடினம் என்ற தவறான சிந்தனையை குப்பையில் போடுங்கள், எந்த தேர்வையும் சந்தித்து சாதிக்க நம்மோடு அல்லாஹ் இருகின்றான், அல்லாஹ்விம் மீது நம்பிக்கைவையுங்கள் அவனிடம் வலியுறித்தி கேளுங்கள், கடினமாக உழைத்து படியுங்கள் நிச்சயம் அல்லாஹ் நமக்கு வெற்றியை தருவான் இன்ஷா அல்லாஹ்.


தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளை இலச்ச கணக்கில் பணத்தை கட்டி படிக்க வைக்க விரும்பும் பெற்றோர்கள் 70 ரூபாயில் எழுதப்படும் இந்த தேர்வை எழுத தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளை தூண்டுவதில்லை. இதில் நாம் பெற்றோர்களை மட்டும் குறை சொல்ல முடியாது. பொதுவாகவே நமது சமுதாய மாணவர்களுக்கும், பெற்றோர்களுக்கும் இது பற்றிய விபரங்கள் தெரிவதில்லை, மேலும் வழிகாட்ட யாரும் முன் வருவதில்லை, அல்லது அவர்களின் வழிகாட்டல் மிக குறுகிய வட்டத்திற்க்குள்ளேயே உள்ளது (இப்போது உங்களுக்கு வழிகாட்ட நமது மாணவர் அணி தயாராக உள்ளது. இது வரை முஸ்லீம் இயக்கங்களை நடத்திய தலைவர்கள் இதில் அக்கரை காட்டாமல் தங்களுக்கு இலாபம் கிடைக்கும் அரசியலை பிடித்துக்கொண்டு முஸ்லீம்களை ஏமாற்ற நினைக்கின்றனர். அரசியலைவிட கல்வி முன்னேற்றம் தான் ஒரு சமூகத்திற்க்கு பாதுகாப்பையும், சுகாதாரத்தையும், சுய சிந்தனையும் கொடுக்கும். அரசியல்வதிகள் ஐந்து வருததில் மாறிவிடுவார்கள் ஆனால் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் (கலெக்டர், காவல் துறை ஆணையர் (கமிஷ்னர் போன்றவர்கள் பல வருடங்கள் பணியாற்றி சமுதாயத்திற்க்கு பாதுகாப்பும் முன்னேற்றமும் வழங்க முடியும். எனவே தான் நமது மாணவர் அணி கல்வி முன்னேற்றத்தை கையில் எடுத்து இதுவரை யாரும் செய்திராத கல்வி வளர்ச்சி பணியை தமிழகத்தின் மூளை முடுக்கெள்ளாம் செய்து வருகின்றது.

Hazrat Ali (RA) said, Ya Rasulallah! This looks impossible, how will I be able to do it? Then the prophet (SAWS) replied:

4 times reading surah Fatiha is equals to four thousand Dinaars giving in Sadaqa.

3 times reading surah Ikhlas (Qul hu Allahu Ahad) is equals to one complete Quran.

3 times reading any durood shareef (Shortest: Sallalaho Alaihi Wa Salam) is the price of jannat.

10 times Astagfirullah (or any istighfar) is equals to making two unhappy people happy with each other.

4 times third Kalima is equals to one hajj.

After this Ali (RA) said, Ya Rasulallah (SAWS)! Now I will do all these before going to bed.

My dear brothers and sisters, it takes less then 5 mins for all the above zikr and look at the virtues for it.....who would not want to have all these virtues to be in their book of good deeds.
To remind oneself of it, the easiest way is to write down on a piece of paper all the above zikr to be done b4 going to sleep and stick that piece of paper just next to UR bed....and of course Allah is the one to remind.

It will be very nice of u if u could Pls forward this to as many Muslims as possible coz if anyone starts doing these Aamaal then there is no doubt that U will also be rewarded for it. Inshallah.

My dear sisters in Islam, Assalamu Alaikum w.w.
please take a look at this advice, so that you can stay attractive and beautiful for the rest of your life.

1- To beautify your eyes, lower your gaze towards strange men, this
will make your eyes pure and shiny.

2- To beautify your face and make it shiny, keep doing wodo minimum five times a day

3- To have attractive lips, always mention Allah and remember to speak the truth.

4- As for blush and rouge, "Modesty" (Haya') is one of the best brands
and it can be found in any of the Islamic centers.

5- To remove impurities from your face and body, use a soap called
"Istighfaar".(seeking forgiveness of Allah) this soap will remove any bad deeds.

6- Now about your hair, if any of you has a problem of hair split ends,
then I suggest "Islamic Hijab" which will protect your hair from damage.

7- As! for jewelry, beautify your hands with humbleness and let your
hands be generous and give charity to the poor

8- To avoid heart disease, forgive people who hurt your feelings.

9- Your necklace should be a sign to pardon your fellow brothers and sisters.

If you follow these advices given to you by the Creator, you will have a beautiful and attractive inner and outer appearance.

சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு தமிழக பாரதீய ஜனதா கட்சித் தலைவர் திரு. கணேசன் இதய ஆப்ரேசன் செய்து வீட்டுக்கு வந்தவரை முஸ்லிம் லீக் கட்சி பொதுச் செயலாளர் ஜனாப் காதர் முகைதீன் மற்றும் முஸ்லிம் லீக் பிரமுகர்கள் சென்று நலம் விசாரித்ததினை பத்திரிக்கை செய்திகளாக வெளியிட்டிருந்தன. நான் கூட இதுவல்லவோ தமிழ் கலாச்சாரம் போதித்த மனித நேய உணர்வு என்று மகிழ்தேன். என்னைப் போல பல முஸ்லிம்களும் சந்தோசப் பட்டிருப்பார்கள் என்றால் மிகையாகாது.
சில தினங்களுக்கு முன்பு முன்னாள் உச்ச நீதி மன்ற தலமை நீதிபதி சிறுபான்மை நலன் பற்றி விசாரித்த கமிஷன் அறிக்கையினை இந்திய பாராளுமன்றத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டது என்பதினை அனைவரும் அறிவர். அந்த அறிக்கையில் மத அடிப்படையில் முஸ்லிம் மக்கள் 73 சதவீதம் இருப்பதாகவும் ஆகவே 10 சதவீத வேலை வாய்ப்பு முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்றும், மற்ற மைனாரிட்டிகளுக்கு 5 சதவீதம் கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்றும், அவ்வாறு முஸ்லிம் மைனாரிட்டி வேட்பாளர்கள் வேலைக்கு கிடைக்காத பட்சத்தில் அந்த வேலையினை மற்ற மைனாரிட்டிகளுக்கு கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் ஆணித்தரமாக கூறியுள்ளார். அத்துடன் 50 சதவீத ரிசர்வேஷன் முஸ்லிம்களால் நடத்தப்படுகின்ற நிறுவனங்களிலும், 15 சதவீதம் முஸ்லிம் அல்லாதவர் நடத்தும் நிறுவனங்களிலும் அமல் படுத்த வேண்டும் என்றும் கூறியுள்ளார். இந்த ஒதுக்கீடு முஸ்லிம்-கிறித்துவ மதத்திற்கு மனமாற்றம் கொண்டு இணைந்த தலித் மக்களுக்கும் பொருந்தும். அவர்கள் விரும்பினால் தங்கள் பழைய சாதிச் சான்றிதழிலேயே ரிசர்வேஷன் பெற தடையில்லை என்றும் சொல்லியுள்ளார். அவருடைய அறிக்கை நீதியரசர் ராஜேந்திர சச்சார் கமிட்டி அளித்த அறிக்கைக்கு பின் பரிசீலனைக்கு எடுத்துக் கொள்ளப்படும் என்றும் மத்திய அரசு சாரபில்; பிரதமர் தெரிவித்தார். நீதிபதி சச்சார் அறிக்கையின் சாராம்சம் என்ன? முஸ்லிம் படிப்பிலும்-வேலை வாய்ப்பிலும் தலித்களை விட மிகவும் தாழ்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள் இந்திய நாட்டில் சுதந்திரம் அடைந்து 62 ஆண்டுகள் ஆன பின்னரும் என்று தான் சொல்லியுள்ளார். ஆகவே அவர்கள் முன்னேற அரசு துரித நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் வேண்டுகோள் விட்டுள்ளார் என்பதினை அனைவரும் அறிந்ததே.
திரு. இல. கணேசன் அவர்கள் 23.12.2009 ஆம் தேதி வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கையில், ‘நீதிபதி ரங்கநாத மிஸ்ராவின் இந்த அறிக்கை இஸ்லாமிய, கிறிஸ்துவ மத குருமார்கள் தூண்டிதலின் பேரில் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட அறிக்கையென்றும், இந்த குருமார்கள் தாழ்த்தப்பட்ட, பிற்பட்ட மக்கள் வாழும் பகுதிகளுக்கு சென்று, ‘நீ இந்துவாக இருப்பதால்தான் சாதிக் கொடுமை நீடிக்கிறது, என் மதத்திற்கு வந்து விட்டால் சாதி ஒழியும், சமத்துவம் நிலவும்’ என்று ஆசை வார்த்தை காட்டி மதம் மாற்றினார்கள். இப்போதோ மதம் மாறிய பின்னும் சாதி நீடிக்கிறது என்றும் சொல்லி சலுகை கேட்கிறார்கள், ஆகவே அந்த அறிக்கையினை நிராகரிக்க வேண்டும், இல்லையென்றால் மத ரீதியான பின் விளைவுகள் உண்டாக்கி விடும்’ கூறியிருக்கிறார்.
ஆனால் உண்மையென்ன? நாடெங்கிலும் தாழ்த்தப்பட்டவர் முற்பட்ட, ஆதிக்க சாதிகளின் முன்னால் சட்டையணிக்கூடாது, காலணி அணியக்கூடாது, டீக்கடையில் ஒரே டம்ளரில் டீ வழக்கக் கூடாது, பிணங்கள் எரிப்பதிற்கு தனி சுடுகாடு, அவர்கள் மேல் ஜாதி வீதிகளில் நடமாடக்கூடாது, கிணற்றில் தண்ணீர் மேல் ஜாதியினர் பிடிக்கும் போது தண்ணீர் பிடிக்கக்கூடாது, குளத்தில் ஒன்றாக குளிக்கக்கூடாது, கோயில்களில் ஒன்றாக சேர்ந்து வணங்கக்கூடாது, மனமாற இரு ஜோடிகள் வௌ;வேறு ஜாதியினராக இருந்தாலும் இணையக்கூடாது போன்ற கடுமையான கட்டுப்பாடுகளினால் மனம் நொந்து கடலை நோக்கி ஓடி வரும் சிறு ஆறுகள் போல சமத்துவம் சகோதரத்துவம் போற்றும் இஸ்லாம் மதம் நோக்கி ஓடி வருகிறாரகள் இந்து மதத்திலுள்ள தலித் மக்கள். அவர்களுக்கு ஆசை வார்த்தை கொடுத்து யாரும் அழைப்பதில்லை என்பதுதான் உண்மை. எப்போது ஒருவன் ‘லாயிலாக இல்லல்லாஹ் முகம்மதுர் ரஸீலல்;லாஹ’; என்று இஸ்லாமிய மதத்தினை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டானோ அப்போது ஜாதி வேறுபாடுகள் அறுத்ததெறிந்து வீசப்படுகின்றன. இந்த நவீன உலகத்திலும் ஜாதி இந்துக்கள் தலித் மக்கள் தங்கள் பகுதிக்கு வரக்கூடாது என்று சுவர் எழுப்பிய அதிசயம் பல வருடங்களுக்கு முன்பு தென்ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் நிறவெறி ஆட்சி நடந்தபோது இருந்தது. அதன் பின்பு நெல்சன் மண்டேலா 27 ஆண்டு தனிமை சிறையில் இருந்தாலும் போராடி கறுப்பின மக்கள் உரிமை காத்ததோடு மட்டில்லாமல் அதன் ஜனநாயக அரசின் ஜனாதிபதியாகவும் இருந்தார். ஆனால் தமிழகத்தில் மதுரை மாவட்டத்தில் உத்தமபுரத்திலும் அது போன்ற சுவர் சமீபத்தில் அரசு முயற்கியால் இடிக்கப்பட்டாலும் இன்னும் உரிமை மறுக்கப்படுகிறது என்று தகவல் கிடைத்து பார்வையிட வந்த மார்க்கிஸ்ட் கம்ய+னிஸ்ட் பொலைட் பீரோ மெம்பர் பிரிந்தா கரட் கூட போலீஸாரால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார் என்றும் அது சம்பந்தமாக விசாரணை நடந்தது என்பதினையும் அனைவரும் அறிந்ததே.
ஏன் சிவகங்கை மாவட்டம் ஊஞ்சனை கிராமத்தில் கோயில் தேர் இழுக்க தலித்துகள் மறுக்கப் பட்டு அதனை தட்டிக்கேட்ட ஒன்பது தலித் கொடூரமாக கொலை செய்யப்பட்டதையும் அந்த கிராமத்தைப் பார்ப்பதிற்காக 1988ஆம் ஆண்டு பாரத பிரதமர் ராஜீவ் சென்றதினையும் அனைவரும் மறந்து விடவில்லை. ஜனநாயக நாட்டில் ஒரு தலித் முருகேசன் மதுரை மாவட்டம் கீழையூர்பஞ்சாயத்து தலைவராக வந்துவிட்டார் என அறிந்து அவரை பணியாற்ற விடாமல் தடுத்ததோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல,; அவர் உள்பட ஆறு தலித்துகள் மதுரை கலெக்டரிடம் மனு கொடுத்து விட்டு பஸ்ஸில் வரும் போது கொடூரமாக கொலை செய்யப்பட்டதையும் அந்த வழக்கில் உச்சநீதிமன்றமும் குற்றவாளிகளின் தண்டனையினை உறுதி செய்ததினையும் அனைவரும் பத்திரிக்கையில் படித்திருப்பீர்கள். விவசாய கூலி உயர்வு கேட்ட தலித் விவசாயிகள் மிராசுதார்களால் 1968 ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் மாதம் 25ந்தேதி மிருகத்தனமான செயலில் தஞசை மாவட்டம் கீழ் வெண்மணி கிராமத்தில் 40 பேர் பெண்கள், குழந்தைகள், முதியோர் உள்பட உயிருடன் எரித்து கருக்பட்டனர் என்பதினை கல்லூரி மாணவானாக இருந்த காலத்திலிருந்து இன்னும் பசுமையாக நெஞ்சில் உள்ளது. அன்றை முதல்வர் பேரரிஞர் அண்ணா கூட அந்த செய்தி கேட்டு துடி துடித்து, ‘ என் நெஞ்சில் பாய்ச்சிய ஈட்டியாக கருதி வேதனையடைந்து இரவு முழுவதும் உறங்காது அல்லல் பட்டேன் என்று சொன்னதினை எல்லோரும் படித்திருப்பீர்கள.
சென்ற மாதங்கூட திருவாரூர் மாவட்டம் திருத்துரைப்பூண்டியில் தலித் மக்களுக்கு கோயிலில் நுழைய அனுமதி மறுக்கப்பட்டு, நீதித் துறையின் உத்திரவின் பேரில் மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் போலீஸ் துணையோடு அவர்களை பஸ்ஸில் அணியாக அழைத்துச் செல்லும் போது கல், தடி கொண்டு தாக்கப்பட்ட சம்பவம் அனைவரும் அறிந்திருப்பீர்கள். ஆகவே தான் கம்ய+னிஸ்ட்டுகள் ஆலய நுழையும் போராட்டத்தினை அறிவித்துள்ளார்கள். பழைய புராணத்தில் நந்தன் என்ற தலித் ஆண்டவனை தரிசிக்க கோவிலுக்கு சென்றதாகவும் இறைவனை தரிசிக்க விடாமல் நந்நி போன்றவர்கள் மறைத்துக் கொண்டு இருந்ததாகவும் ஆகவே அவன் இறைவனிடம், ‘சற்றே விலகியிரும் பிள்ளாய், சன்னிதானம் மறைக்கிறது, என்றும் நந்தன் முறையிட்டதாகவும், இறைவன் செவிசாய்த்து ‘நந்தாய் உள்ளே வா’ என்று அழைத்து நந்தன் உள்ளே சென்று இறைவனை வழிபட்டதாகவும் புராணம் சொல்கிறது. ஆகவே ஆண்டவனே சொன்னால் தான் தலித்களுக்கு உரிமை கொடுக்கும் நிலையிருப்பதால் தானே தலித் மக்கள் சமத்துவம்-சகோதரத்துவம் போற்றும் இஸ்லாம் மதத்திற்கு ஓடோடி வருகிறார்கள் என்பது மறுக்க முடியாத உண்மையாகும். ஏற்கனவே நீதியரசர் சச்சார் அறிக்கையில் படிப்பில்- வேலை வாய்ப்பில் முஸ்லிம்கள் தலித் போன்று இருப்பதாலும், இந்து மதத்திலிருந்து இஸ்லாம் மதத்திற்கு மதம் மாறிய தலித்கள் பொருளாதாரம்-கல்வியில் பின் தங்கியிருப்பதாலும் நீதியரசர் ரங்கநாத் மிஸ்ரா அவர்கள் தலித்கள் அனுபவித்த அரசு சலுகைகளை அவர்கள் மதம் மாறினாலும் வழங்க வேண்டும் என்று பரிந்திருக்கிறாரே தவிர எந்த முஸ்லிம் மத குருமார்களும் நீதியரசர் ரங்கநாத் மிஸ்ரா போன்ற அப்பழுக்கற்ற நீதிபதியினை யாரும் வசியப்படுத்தி அறிக்கை தயாரிக்கச் செய்ய முடியாது.
பி.ஜே.பியில் தலித்-பிற்பட்ட தலைவர்கள் தலை தூக்க முடியுமா? அவ்வாறு தமிழக தலைவராக வந்த டாக்டர் கிருபாநிதி வடநாட்டில் நடந்த மாநாட்டில் எவ்வாறெல்லாம் அவமானப்படுத்தப் பட்டார் என்று அறிக்கை விடுத்து ராஜினாமா செய்யவில்லையா? பிற்பட்ட சமுதாய தலைவர்களான உமாபாரதி-கல்யான்சிங்-ஏன் முன்னாள் அமைச்சர் திருநாவுக்கரசர் போன்றோர் பி.ஜே.பியில் இருந்து ஏன் விலகினார்கள் என்பது அவர்கள் விலகும் போது கொடுத்த அறிக்கையினைப் பார்த்தாலே அனைவரும் புரிந்து கொள்ளலாம். அங்கு தலித்-பிற்பட்ட சமூதாய மக்களுக்கு உரிமை மறுக்கப் படுகிறது என்பதே உண்மை. அவருடைய வீட்டினை ஒழுங்கு படுத்துவதிற்கு பதில் கண்ணாடி மாளிகை போன்று இருக்கிற இஸ்;லாம் மதத்தினை ஜாதி உணர்வு இஸ்லாத்திலும் இருக்கிறது போன்ற மாயையை நிலை நிறுத்தப் பார்க்கிறார். ஆகவே தான் பி.ஜே.பி கட்சி கழுதை தேய்ந்து கட்டெறும்பான கதையாக சென்ற பாராளுமன்ற தேர்தலில் அவர்களுக்கு பாடம் புகுத்தினார்கள் மக்கள். முன்னாள் அதிமுக அமைச்சர் திருநாவுக்கரசர் பி.ஜே.பியிலிருந்து விலகும் போது, ‘பி.ஜே.பியில் சேர்ந்ததால் நான் நல்ல இஸ்லாமிய நண்பர்களை இழந்தேன், தமிழகத்தில் பி.ஜே.பி என்ற கட்சி என்ற அமைப்புக்கு மக்கள் ஆதரவு இல்லை என தெரிந்து கொண்டதாக’ வருத்தத்துடன் அறிவித்து விட்டு விலகி இன்று காங்கிரசில் சேர்ந்துவிட்டார்.
ஆகவே தான் மக்கள் ஆதரவே இல்லாத ஒரு அமைப்பில் இருந்து கொண்டு தன் பெயர் தினந்தோரும் பத்திரிக்கைகளிலும்-தொலைக்காட்சியிலும் வரவேண்டுமென்று ஓதும் வேதத்தினை சாத்தான் ஓதும் வேதமாக இஸ்லாமிய சமுதாயம் மட்டுமல்லாது-ஒட்டுமொத்த தமிழக சமுதாயமும் நினைத்து சிரிக்கிறது என்றால் அது உண்னைதானே?

Our bodies are made up of mostly water. Just look at the facts: The brain contains 74% water, blood contains 83% water, lean muscle has 75% and bone has 22% water. Experts agree that water is one of the most powerful forms of treatment. So how come most people don't drink enough water?


10 Health Benefits of Water:

1. Water prevents kidney stones. The most common cause of kidney stones is not drinking enough water. Since water dissolves the substances that form stones in the urine, drinking 12 glasses daily helps treat kidney stones.

2. Water treats urinary tract infection. The more water you drink, the more you will urinate. "Drinking lots of water will help flush out harmful bacteria from your bladder," says Medical City kidney specialist Dr. Roberto Tanchanco.

3. Water helps patients with diarrhea by preventing dehydration. As a first-aid for diarrhea, you can make your own oral rehydration solution at home. Mix a glass of water with 2 teaspoons sugar and ¼ teaspoon salt, and drink as much as you can tolerate. This is similar to the dextrose solution in the hospital.

4. Water helps reduce fever. For symptoms of flu, water can help lower your body temperature when you urinate the "heat" out of your body. If you're sick, drink more water for you to recover faster.

5. Water helps treat cough and colds, sore throat, and respiratory infections. Water helps loosen sticky phlegm. A respected lung specialist told me that some mucolytics out there are just as beneficial as drinking lots of water.

6. Water reduces heartburn. Taking 2-3 gulps of water every 20 minutes or so can help flush the stomach acid away. Bananas and water are effective alternatives to taking antacids. Try it.

7. Water prevents constipation and its complications. Too little water can harden the stools and lead to hemorrhoids and diverticulosis, a disease of the large bowel. Drink water and eat lots of vegetables to soften your stools.

8. Water keeps you alert and energetic. If you're dehydrated, your blood is literally thicker. This makes it harder for the blood to circulate. As a result, the brain can become less active and you can feel confused and fatigued. Some studies also show that water may help cure migraine headaches.

9. Water helps reduce weight. By drinking a glass or two of water before a meal, you will lessen the amount of food you can take in order to feel full. Water has zero calories and will not make you fat.

10. Water keeps your skin soft and radiant. Just as a dehydrated person will have deep-set eyes and wrinkled skin, so will a fully hydrated person exhibit a normal and beautiful skin tone.


The Proper Way To Drink Water:

1. Drink water when you wake up. Your body loses water while you sleep, so drink a glass before you go to sleep, and another glass when you wake up. You are naturally thirsty or dehydrated in the morning. Drinking water in the morning helps flush out the toxins that have accumulated all night.

2. Drink 8 to 12 glasses a day. According to the Mayo Clinic, a 120-pound individual needs 8 cups of water a day, while a 190-pound person would require 12 cups daily. Dr. Robert Tanchanco says that we should monitor our urine color and keep it on the light side. However, drink only a maximum of 16 glasses a day, and not more.

3. Drink little by little throughout the day. It is preferable to sip water throughout the day rather than to drink two glasses all at once. This will lessen the stress on the heart (especially if you have heart disease) and give your body more time to absorb it.

4. Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink water. By the time you feel thirsty, you're probably already 2 glasses below your normal water needs. Elderly people are also less sensitive to the body's need for water.

5. Drink water, not soft drinks, alcohol or coffee. Some experts believe that tea, sodas and coffee can be potentially dehydrating. Moreover, the high phosphorus and sugar content in cola drinks can lead to conditions like osteoporosis and diabetes. One study shows that adults who drank six cups of coffee daily experienced mild dehydration. Drinking alcohol is much worse because it actually dehydrates you by making you urinate a lot.

6. Train children to drink water. Set a good example to your kids and drink water together. Make sure that children drink enough water when they're active. Pack a large bottled water in their lunch box.

7. Drink more when it's hot. People living in hot climates like the Philippines need to drink more water. They are more prone to develop kidney stones compared to those living in cooler regions.

8. Drink more as you exercise. When you exercise, you need to drink more water to compensate for fluid loss. Go for an extra 500 ml of water for a 30-minute to 1-hour exercise. Eating a banana also helps keep your potassium up.

9. Drink more when you're sick. Even though you don't feel like it, you really need to drink more water to help your body recover from various infections. If you're dehydrated, you'll feel much worse.

10. Drink more if you're pregnant. Women who are expecting or breast-feeding need additional fluids to stay hydrated. Allah's sacred month of Muharram is a blessed and important month. It is the first month of the Hijri calendar and is one of the four sacred months concerning which Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

"Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so it was ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them, four are sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein ... " [Al-Qur'an 9:36]

Abu Bakrah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

"The year is twelve months of which four are sacred, the three consecutive months of Dhu'l-Qa'dah, Dhu'l-Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab Mudar which comes between Jumada and Sha'ban." [Reported by al-Bukhari, 2958]

Muharram is so called because it is a sacred (muharram) month and to confirm its sanctity.

Allah's words: "... so wrong not yourselves therein ... " mean do not wrong yourselves in these sacred months, because sin in these months is worse than in other months. It was reported that Ibn 'Abbas said that this phrase referred to all the months, then these four were singled out and made sacred, so that sin in these months is more serious and good deeds bring a greater reward.

Qutadah said concerning this phrase that wrongdoing during the sacred months is more serious and more sinful that wrongdoing at any other time. Wrongdoing at any time is a serious matter, but Allah gives more weight to whichever of His commands He will. Allah has chosen certain ones of His creation. He has chosen from among the angels Messengers and from among mankind Messengers. He chose from among speech the remembrance of Him (dhikr). He chose from among the earth the mosques, from among the months Ramadhan and the sacred months, from among the days Friday and from among the nights Laylat al-Qadr, so venerate that which Allah has told us to venerate. People of understanding and wisdom venerate the things that Allah has told us to venerate. [Summarized from the Tafsir of Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him.]



The Virtue of Observing More Nafil Fasts During Muharram

Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

"The best fasting after Ramadhan is fasting Allah's month of Muharram." [Reported by Muslim, 1982]

The phrase "Allah's month", connecting the name of the month to the name of Allah in a genitive grammatical structure, signifies the importance of the month. Al-Qari said:

"The apparent meaning is all of the month of Muharram."

But it was proven that the Prophet, peace be upon him, never fasted any whole month apart from Ramadhan, so this hadith is probably meant to encourage increasing one's fasting during Muharram, without meaning that one should fast for the entire month.

It was reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to fast more in Sha'ban. It is likely that the virtue of Muharram was not revealed to him until the end of his life, before he was able to fast during this month. [Sharh an-Nawawi 'ala Sahih Muslim]



Allah chooses whatever times and places He wills

Al-'Izz ibn 'Abdus-Salam, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"Times and places may be given preferred status in two ways, either temporal or spiritual. With regard to the latter, this is because Allah bestows His generosity on His slaves at those times or in those places, by giving a greater reward for deeds done, such as giving a greater reward for fasting in Ramadhan than for fasting at all other times, and also on the day of 'Ashura, the virtue of which is due to Allah's generosity and kindness towards His slaves on that day ... " [Qawa'id al-Ahkam, 1/38]



'Ashura in History

Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, came to Madinah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of 'Ashura. He asked:

"What is this?"

They said: "This is a righteous day, it is the day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemies, so Musa fasted on this day." He said:

"We have more right to Musa than you," so he fasted on that day and commanded [the Muslims] to fast on that day. [Reported by al-Bukhari, 1865]

"This is a righteous day" – in a report narrated by Muslim, [the Jews said:] "This is a great day, on which Allah saved Musa and his people, and drowned Pharaoh and his people."

"Musa fasted on this day" – a report narrated by Muslim adds: " ... in thanksgiving to Allah, so we fast on this day."

According to a report narrated by al-Bukhari: " ... so we fast on this day to venerate it."

A version narrated by Imam Ahmad adds: "This is the day on which the Ark settled on Mount Judi, so Nuh fasted this day in thanksgiving."

" ... and commanded [the Muslims] to fast on that day" – according to another report also narrated by al-Bukhari, he said to his Companions:

"You have more right to Musa than they do, so fast on that day."

The practice of fasting on 'Ashura was known even in the days of Jahiliyyah, before the Prophet's mission. It was reported that 'Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

"The people of Jahiliyyah used to fast on that day ... "

Al-Qurtubi said:

"Perhaps the Quraysh used to fast on that day on the basis of some past law, such as that of Ibrahim, upon whom be peace."

It was also reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to fast on 'Ashura in Makkah, before he migrated to Madinah. When he migrated to Madinah, he found the Jews celebrating this day, so he asked them why, and they replied as described in the hadith quoted above. He commanded the Muslims to be different from the Jews, who took it as a festival, as was reported in the hadith of Abu Musa, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:

"The Jews used to take the day of 'Ashura as a festival [according to a report narrated by Muslim: the day of 'Ashura was venerated by the Jews, who took it as a festival. According to another report also narrated by Muslim: the people of Khaybar (the Jews) used to take it as a festival and their women would wear their jewellery and symbols on that day]. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

'So you [Muslims] should fast on that day.' " [Reported by al-Bukhari]

Apparently the motive for commanding the Muslims to fast on this day was the desire to be different from the Jews, so that the Muslims would fast when the Jews did not, because people do not fast on a day of celebration. Fasting on 'Ashura was a gradual step in the process of introducing fasting as a prescribed obligation in Islam. Fasting appeared in three forms. When the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, came to Madinah, he told the Muslims to fast on three days of every month and on the day of 'Ashura, then Allah made fasting obligatory when He said (interpretation of the meaning):

" ... observing the fasting is prescribed for you ... " [Al-Qur'an 2:183] [Ahkam al-Qur'an by al-Jassas, Part 1]

The obligation was transferred from the fast of 'Ashura to the fast of Ramadhan, and this one of the proofs in the field of Usul ul-Fiqh that it is possible to abrogate a lighter duty in favour of a heavier duty.

Before the obligation of fasting 'Ashura was abrogated, fasting on this day was obligatory, as can be seen from the clear command to observe this fast. Then it was further confirmed later on, then reaffirmed by making it a general command addressed to everybody, and once again by instructing mothers not to breastfeed their infants during this fast. It was reported from Ibn Mas'ud that when fasting Ramadhan was made obligatory, the obligation to fast 'Ashura was lifted, i.e., it was no longer obligatory to fast on this day, but it is still desirable (mustahabb).



The virtues of fasting 'Ashura

Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:

"I never saw the Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, so keen to fast any day and give it priority over any other than this day, the day of 'Ashura, and this month, meaning Ramadhan." [Reported by al-Bukhari, 1867]

The meaning of his being keen was that he intended to fast on that day in the hope of earning the reward for doing so.

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

"For fasting the day of 'Ashura, I hope that Allah will accept it as expiation for the year that went before." [Reported by Muslim, 1976]

This is from the bounty of Allah towards us: for fasting one day He gives us expiation for the sins of a whole year. Indeed Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.



Which day is 'Ashura?

An-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"'Ashura and Tasu'a are two elongated names [the vowels are elongated] as is stated in books on the Arabic language. Our companions said: 'Ashura is the tenth day of Muharram and Tasu'a is the ninth day. This is our opinion, and that of the majority of scholars. This is the apparent meaning of the ahadith and is what we understand from the general wording. It is also what is usually understood by scholars of the language." [Al-Majmu']

'Ashura is an Islamic name that was not known at the time of Jahiliyyah. [Kashshaf al-Qina', Part 2: Sawm Muharram]

Ibn Qudamah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"'Ashura is the tenth day of Muharram. This is the opinion of Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib and al-Hasan. It was what was reported by Ibn 'Abbas, who said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, commanded us to fast 'Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram.' [Reported by al-Tirmidhi, who graded it a sahih hasan hadith] It was reported that Ibn 'Abbas said: 'The ninth,' and reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to fast the ninth. [Reported by Muslim] 'Ata reported that he said, 'Fast the ninth and the tenth, and do not be like the Jews.' If this is understood, we can say on this basis that it is mustahabb (encouraged) to fast on the ninth and the tenth, for that reason. This is what Ahmad said, and it is the opinion of Ishaq."



It is mustahabb (encouraged) to fast TasU'a with 'Ashura

'Abdullah ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:

"When the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, fasted on 'Ashura and commanded the Muslims to fast as well, they said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is a day that is venerated by the Jews and Christians.' The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

'If I live to see the next year, insha'Allah, we will fast on the ninth day too.'

But it so happened that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, passed away before the next year came." [Reported by Muslim, 1916]

Ash-Shafi'i and his companions, Ahmad, Ishaq and others said:

"It is mustahabb to fast on both the ninth and tenth days, because the Prophet, peace be upon him, fasted on the tenth, and intended to fast on the ninth."

On this basis it may be said that there are varying degrees of fasting 'Ashura, the least of which is to fast only on the tenth and the best of which is to fast the ninth as well. The more one fasts in Muharram, the better it is.



The reason why it is mustahabb to fast on TasU'a

An-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"The scholars – our companions and others – mentioned several reasons why it is mustahabb to fast on Tasu'a:

– the intention behind it is to be different from the Jews, who only venerate the tenth day. This opinion was reported from Ibn 'Abbas ...

– the intention is to add another day's fast to 'Ashura. This is akin to the prohibition on fasting a Friday by itself, as was mentioned by al-Khattabi and others.

– To be on the safe side and make sure that one fasts on the tenth, in case there is some error in sighting the crescent moon at the beginning of Muharram and the ninth is in fact the tenth."

The strongest of these reasons is being different from the People of the Book. Shaykh ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"The Prophet, peace be upon him, forbade imitating the People of the Book in many ahadith, for example, his words concerning 'Ashura:

'If I live until the next year, I will certainly fast on the ninth day.' " [Al-Fatawa al-Kubra]

Ibn Hajar, may Allah be pleased with him, said in his commentary on this hadith:

"What he meant by fasting on the ninth day was probably not that he would limit himself to that day, but would add it to the tenth, either to be on the safe side or to be different from the Jews and Christians, which is more likely. This is also what we can understand from some of the reports narrated by Muslim." [Fath, 4/245]



Ruling on fasting only on the day of 'Ashura

Shaykh ul-Islam said:

"Fasting on the day of 'Ashura is an expiation for a year, and it is not makruh to fast only that day ... " [Al-Fatawa al-Kubra].

In Tuhfat al-Muhtaj by Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, it says:

"There is nothing wrong with fasting only on 'Ashura."



Fasting on 'Ashura even if it is a Saturday or a Friday

At-Tahawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, allowed us to fast on 'Ashura and urged us to do so. He did not say that if it falls on a Saturday we should not fast. This is evidence that all days of the week are included in this. In our view – and Allah knows best – it could be the case that even if this is true (that it is not allowed to fast on Saturdays), it is so that we do not venerate this day and refrain from food, drink and intercourse, as the Jews do. As for the one who fasts on a Saturday without intending to venerate it, and does not do so because the Jews regard it as blessed, then this is not makruh ... " [Mushkil al-Athar]

The author of Al-Minhaj said:

"'It is disliked (makruh) to fast on a Friday alone ... ' But it is no longer makruh if you add another day to it, as mentioned in the sahih report to that effect. A person may fast on a Friday if it coincides with his habitual fast, or he is fasting in fulfilment of a vow, or he is making up an obligatory fast that he has missed, as was stated in a sahih report."

Al-Sharih said in Tuhfat al-Muhtaj:

"'If it coincides with his habitual fast' – i.e., such as if he fasts alternate days, and a day that he fasts happens to be a Friday. 'If he is fasting in fulfilment of a vow, etc.' – this also applies to fasting on days prescribed in Shari'ah, such as 'Ashura or 'Arafah."

Al-Bahuti, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"It is makruh to deliberately single out a Saturday for fasting, because of the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn Bishr, who reported from his sister: 'Do not fast on Saturdays except in the case of obligatory fasts' [Reported by Ahmad with a jayyid isnad and by al-Hakim, who said it was according to the conditions of al-Bukhari], and because it is a day that is venerated by the Jews, so singling it out for fasting means being like them ... except when a Friday or Saturday coincides with a day when Muslims habitually fast, such as when it coincides with the day of 'Arafah or the day of 'Ashura, and a person has the habit of fasting on these days, in which case it is not makruh, because a person's habit carries some weight." [Kashshaf al-Qina']



What should be done if there is confusion about the beginning of the month?

Ahmad said:

"If there is confusion about the beginning of the month, one should fast for three days, to be sure of fasting on the ninth and tenth days." (Al-Mughni of Ibn Qudamah]

If a person does not know when Muharram began, and he wants to be sure of fasting on the tenth, he should assume that Dhul-Hijjah was thirty days – as is the usual rule – and should fast on the ninth and tenth. Whoever wants to be sure of fasting the ninth as well should fast the eight, ninth and tenth (then if Dhul-Hijjah was twenty-nine days, he can be sure of having fasted Tasu'a and 'Ashura).

But given that fasting on 'Ashura is mustahabb rather than wajib, people are not commanded to look for the crescent of the new moon of Muharram as they are to do in the case of Ramadhan and Shawwal.



Fasting 'Ashura – for what does it offer expiation?

Imam an-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"It expiates for all minor sins, i.e., it brings forgiveness of all sins except major sins."

Then he said:

"Fasting the day of 'Arafah expiates for two years, and the day of 'Ashura expiates for one year. If when a person says 'amin' it coincides with the 'amin' of the angels, he will be forgiven all his previous sins ... Each one of the things that we have mentioned will bring expiation. If there are minor sins for which expiation is needed, expiation for them will be accepted; if there are no minor sins or major sins, good deeds will be added to his account and he will be raised in status… If he had committed major sins but no minor sins, we hope that his major sins will be reduced." (Al-Majmu' Sharh al-Muhadhdhab]

Shaykh ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

"Taharah, salah, and fasting in Ramadhan, on the day of 'Arafah and on 'Ashura expiate for minor sins only." [Al-Fatawa al-Kubra]



Not relying too much on the reward for fasting

Some people who are deceived rely too much on things like fasting on 'Ashura or the day of 'Arafah, to the extent that some of them say, "Fasting on 'Ashura will expiate for the sins of the whole year, and fasting on the day of 'Arafah will bring extra rewards." Ibn al-Qayyim said:

"This misguided person does not know that fasting in Ramadhan and praying five times a day are much more important than fasting on the day of 'Arafah and 'Ashura, and that they expiate for the sins between one Ramadhan and the next, or between one Friday and the next, so long as one avoids major sins. But they cannot expiate for minor sins unless one also avoids major sins; when the two things are put together, they have the strength to expiate for minor sins. Among those deceived people may be one who thinks that his good deeds are more than his sins, because he does not pay attention to his bad deeds or check on his sins, but if he does a good deed he remembers it and relies on it. This is like the one who seeks Allah's forgiveness with his tongue (i.e., by words only), and glorifies Allah by saying subhanallah one hundred times a day, then he backbites about the Muslims and slanders their honour, and speaks all day long about things that are not pleasing to Allah. This person is always thinking about the virtues of his tasbihat and tahlilat but he pays no attention to what has been reported concerning those who backbite, tell lies and slander others, or commit other sins of the tongue. They are completely deceived." [Al-Mawsu'ah al-Fiqhiyyah]



Fasting 'Ashura when one still has days to make up from Ramadhan

The fuqaha' differed concerning the ruling on observing voluntary fasts before a person has made up days that he or she did not fast in Ramadhan. The Hanafi school said that it is permissible to observe voluntary fasts before making up days from Ramadhan, and it is not makruh to do so, because the missed days do not have to be made up straight away. The Maliki and Shafi'i schools said that it is permissible but is makruh, because it means that one is delaying something obligatory. Ad-Dusooqi said:

"It is makruh to observe a voluntary fast when one still has to make up an obligatory fast, such as a fast in fulfilment of a vow, or a missed obligatory fast, or a fast done as an act of expiation (kafarah), whether the voluntary fast which is being given priority over an obligatory fast is something confirmed in Shari'ah or not, such as 'Ashura and the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah, according to the most correct opinion."

The Hanbali school said that it is haram to observe a voluntary fast before making up any fasts missed in Ramadhan, and that a voluntary fast in such cases does not count, even if there is plenty of time to make up the obligatory fast. So a person must give priority to the obligatory fasts until he has made them up. [Al-Mawsu'ah al-Fiqhiyyah]

Muslims must hasten to make up any missed fasts after Ramadhan, so that they will be able to fast 'Arafah and 'Ashura without any problem. If a person fasts 'Arafah and 'Ashura with the intention from the night before of making up for a missed fast, this will be good enough to make up what he has missed, for the bounty of Allah is great.



Bid'ahs common on 'Ashura

Shaykh ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked about the things that people do on 'Ashura, such as wearing kohl, taking a bath (ghusl), wearing henna, shaking hands with one another, cooking grains (hubub), showing happiness and so on. Was any of this reported from the Prophet, peace be upon him, in a sahih hadith, or not? If nothing to that effect was reported in a sahih hadith, is doing these things bid'ah, or not? Is there any basis for what the other group do, such as grieving and mourning, going without anything to drink, eulogizing and wailing, reciting in a crazy manner, and rending their garments?

His reply was:

"Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Nothing to that effect has been reported in any sahih hadith from the Prophet, peace be upon him, or from his Companions. None of the Imams of the Muslims encouraged or recommended such things, neither the four imams, nor any others. No reliable scholars have narrated anything like this, neither from the Prophet, peace be upon him, nor from the Companions, nor from those after them; neither in any sahih report or in a da'if (weak) report; neither in the books of Sahih, nor in as-Sunan, nor in the Musnad. No hadith of this nature was known during the best centuries, but some of the later narrators reported ahadith like the one which says, 'Whoever puts kohl in his eyes on the day of 'Ashura will not suffer from eye disease in that year, and whoever takes a bath (does ghusl) on the day of 'Ashura will not get sick in that year,' and so on. They also reported a fabricated hadith that is falsely attributed to the Prophet, peace be upon him, which says, 'Whoever is generous to his family on the day of 'Ashura, Allah will be generous to him for the rest of the year.' Reporting all of this from the Prophet, peace be upon him, is tantamount to lying."

Then he discussed in brief the tribulations that had occurred in the early days of this Ummah and the killing of al-Husayn, may Allah be pleased with him, and what the various sects had done because of this. Then he said:

"An ignorant, wrongful group – who were either heretics and hypocrites, or misguided and misled – made a show of allegiance to him and the members of his household, so they took the day of 'Ashura as a day of mourning and wailing, in which they openly displayed the rituals of Jahiliyyah such as slapping their cheeks and rending their garments, grieving in the manner of the Jahiliyyah ... The Shaytan made this attractive to those who are misled, so they took the day of 'Ashura as an occasion of mourning, when they grieve and wail, recite poems of grief and tell stories filled with lies. Whatever truth there may be in these stories serves no purpose other than the renewal of their grief and sectarian feeling, and the stirring up of hatred and hostility among the Muslims, which they do by cursing those who came before them ... The evil and harm that they do to the Muslims cannot be enumerated by any man, no matter how eloquent he is. Some others – either Nasibis who oppose and have enmity towards al-Husayn and his family or ignorant people who try to fight evil with evil, corruption with corruption, lies with lies and bid'ah with bid'ah – opposed them by fabricating reports in favour of making the day of 'Ashura a day of celebration, by wearing kohl and henna, spending money on one's children, cooking special dishes and other things that are done on 'Eid and special occasions. These people took the day of 'Ashura as a festival like 'Eid, whereas the others took it as a day of mourning. Both are wrong, and both go against the Sunnah, even though the other group (those who take it as a day of mourning) are worse in intention and more ignorant and more plainly wrong ... Neither the Prophet, peace be upon him, nor his successors did any of these things on the day of 'Ashura, they neither made it a day of mourning nor a day of celebration ...

As for the other things, such as cooking special dishes with or without grains, or wearing new clothes, or spending money on one's family, or buying the year's supplies on that day, or doing special acts of worship such as special prayers or deliberately slaughtering an animal on that day, or saving some of the meat of the sacrifice to cook with grains, or wearing kohl and henna, or taking a bath (ghusl), or shaking hands with one another, or visiting one another, or visiting the mosques and shrines and so on all of this is reprehensible bid'ah and is wrong. None of it has anything to do with the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, or the way of the Khulafa' ar-Rashidun. It was not approved of by any of the imams of the Muslims, not Malik, not at-Thawri, not al-Layth ibn Sa'd, not Abu Hanifah, not al-Awza'i, not al-Shafi'i, not Ahmad ibn Hanbal, not Ishaq ibn Rahwayh, not any of the Imams and Scholars of the Muslims." [Al-Fatawa al-Kubra]

Ibn al-Hajj, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned that one bid'ah practiced on 'Ashura was deliberately paying zakat on this day, late or early, or slaughtering a chicken just for this occasion, or – in the case of women – using henna. [Al-Madkhal]

We ask Allah to make us followers of the Sunnah of His Noble Prophet, to make us live in Islam and die in a state of faith. May He help us to do that which He loves and which pleases Him. We ask Him to help us to remember Him and be thankful to Him, to worship Him properly and to accept our good deeds. May He make us of those who are pious and fear Him. May Allah bless our Prophet Muhammad and all his family and companions.

Once there was a very handsome, pious, well educated young man, whose parents emphasized for him to get married. They had seen so many marriage proposals, and he had turned them all down. The parents thought it was becoming a little ridiculous or suspected that he may have someone else in mind.

However every time the parents left the girls house, the young man would always say "she's not the one!" The young man only wanted a girl who was religious and practicing. (Which was hard to find). However one evening his mother arranged for him, to meet a girl, who was religious and practicing.

On that evening, the young man and girl were left to talk and ask each other question (as one would expect). The young man, being a gentleman that, he was allowed, young lady to ask first.

Young girl asked the young man so many questions. She asked about his life, his education, his friends, his family, his habits, his hobbies, his lifestyle, his enjoyment, his time pass, his experiences, his shoe size and his likes and dislikes. Basically everything!
And the young man replied to all of her questions, without tiring and politely with a smile. Young girl took up nearly all of the time, over an hour and felt bad and asked the young man do you have any questions?

Young man said, yes, only have 3 questions...

Young girl thought, wow, only 3 questions okay, go ahead and shoot.

Young man's first question was,

(1) Who do you love the most in the world, someone who's love nothing would ever overcome? She said, this is an easy question! Answer to your question is my mother.
Young man smiled and asked second question,

(2) You said that you read a lot of Qur'an, could you tell me which Surahs you know the meaning of? Hearing this she went red and embarrassed and said I do not know the meaning of any yet, but I am hoping to soon Inshallah I have just been a bit busy.
The third question the young man asked, was

(3) I have been approached for my hand in marriage, by girls that are lot more prettier than you, why should I marry you? Hearing this, the young girl was outraged, she stormed off to her parents with fury and said I do not want to marry this man he is insulting my beauty and intelligence.

And the young man and his parents were once again, left without an agreement of marriage. This time, the young man's parents were really angry and said what did you do to anger that young girl, the family was so nice and pleasant, and they were religious like you wanted.

What did you ask the girl? Tell us!

Young man said, firstly I asked her, who do you love the most? She said, her mother. The parents said so, what is wrong with that?

Young man said, "no one, is Muslim, until he loves Allah (SWT) and his Messenger more than anyone else in the world." If a woman loves Allah (SWT) and Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) more than anyone, she will love me and respect me and stay faithful to me, because of that love and fear for Allah (SWT). And we can share this love, because this love is greater than lust for beauty.

Young man said, then I asked, you read a lot of Holy Qur'an, can you tell me the meaning of any Surah? And she said no. because I haven't had time yet. So I remembered the saying of Imam Shafi'i, "All humans are dead except those who have knowledge ... And all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds .. And those who do good are deceived, except those who are sincere ... And those who are sincere are always in a state of worry (for others)."

She has lived 20 years on this earth and not found any time, to seek knowledge, why would I marry a woman, who does not know her rights and responsibilities and what will she teach my children, except how to be negligent, because the woman is the Madrasah (school) and the best of teachers. And a woman, who has no time for Allah (SWT), will not have time for her husband.

The third question I asked her was, that a lot of girls, more prettier than her, had approached me for marriage, why should I choose her? That is why she stormed off, getting angry.

Young man's parents said that is a horrible thing to say, why would you do such a thing; we are going back there to apologize. Young man said I said this on purpose, to test whether she could control her anger.

Holy Prophet Muhammad said "Do not get angry, do not get angry, do not get angry" repeatedly when asked how to become pious, because anger is from Satan.
If a woman cannot control her anger with a stranger she just met, do you think she will be able to control it with her husband?

So, the moral of this story is, a marriage is based on: Knowledge not looks, Practice not preaching, Forgiveness not anger, Spiritual love not lust and compromise!

One should look for a person who (1) Has love for Allah (SWT) and his Messenger (2) Has knowledge of the deen (religion), and can act upon it (3) can control her anger and another important and crucial factor that she be (4) willing to compromise.

And it goes both ways, so women seeking a man, should look for the same things.
May Allah (SWT) make every marriage a success and let us create Love for Allah and his Messenger so that Allah (SWT) can bless us, and create love in our lives.

There is no better structure founded in Islam other than marriage. Holy Prophet Muhammad
